I'm currently working on an MPhil. My focus for research is on depression. I have been a long-term depression sufferer and have a history of self-harm. I don't claim to be anything particularly special. I don't want to sound like a martyr or anything. I am just trying to do the best I can. If you're interested, please check out the community I've started with a friend and colleague of mine. It's called mytortured_soul. We are collaborating on writing a research paper for publication about the way that people relate to depression and self-harm through the internet. We hope to get real-life, first-hand accounts of what people experience so that we can work to improve understanding, and to give greater voice to those for whom depression and self-harm are a reality. Beyond this though, the other major purpose of the community is to be a 'safe' and supportive place for people to share their experiences without fear of shame or ridicule.
